Serving a campus with approximately 500 students, youll play a pivotal role in supporting student wellness and ensuring the highest standard of care throughout the school year.
Key Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
- Previous school nursing experience is a plus, but not required
- Candidates from clinical nursing backgrounds are welcome; please be prepared to share your motivation for transitioning to a school setting
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with children, staff, and families
- Must verify comfort with daily commute to the Waukegan campus location
- Experience working with pediatric populations or in educational settings is advantageous
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care, triage, and first aid to students as needed
- Manage and administer medications and treatments based on physician orders and parental consent
- Maintain accurate health documentation and ensure compliance with state and district health regulations
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to educate, counsel, and promote healthy practices within the school
- Participate in individualized health planning for students with special healthcare needs
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding student health concerns
- Serve as a resource for health and wellness issues in the school community
