An exciting contract opportunity awaits a skilled Registered Nurse ready to make a meaningful impact in an educational setting. This part-time position is onsite, working closely with one high school student who requires specialized and compassionate care. Youll be engaged in a supportive school community near Des Plaines, IL, assisting a male student who is a quadriplegic using a sip/puff wheelchair, trach, and ventilator, and in need of urinary catheterization.
Key Qualifications:
- Current Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- Previous experience working in schools
- Expertise in trach care, urinary catheterization, and working with ventilator-dependent individuals
- Strong ability to lift and physically assist as needed
- Background in critical care is highly preferred
- LPNs are not eligible for this position
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 nursing care and support during school hours for a medically fragile high school student
- Monitor and manage trach and ventilator care, ensuring equipment is always functioning properly
- Perform urinary catheterization and maintain proper hygiene protocols
- Exhibit readiness to respond to emergency medical needs swiftly and confidently
- Foster an encouraging, respectful, and safe environment for the student
- Collaborate with educational staff and other healthcare professionals in the school
