The role covers two school campuses in the South Chicago area, ensuring students receive high-quality health support throughout the academic year.
Qualifications:
- Hold a current RN license and School Nurse certification as required for Illinois schools
- Bring at least three years of recent experience as a school nurse in a K-8 setting
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local regulations governing school health services
- Ability to maintain accurate health records and respond quickly to student needs
- Preferred: Bilingual in Spanish, CPR and PALS certification
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct nursing care and triage for students and staff during school hours
- Develop health care plans for students with chronic conditions
- Administer routine screenings, vaccinations, and medication as needed
- Collaborate with families, teachers, and administrators to promote student wellness
- Maintain detailed medical records in compliance with legal standards
- Respond effectively to emergencies, and educate the school community on best practices for health and safety
