Job Description

A part-time Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is needed to provide health services within an elementary school setting in Wakefield, RI. This contract-to-hire position offers a consistent, manageable schedule with meaningful work supporting the health and well-being of young students during the school year.

Location: Wakefield, RI
Duration: School Year (ASAP to June 20th)
Schedule: Part-time, 16 hours per week, split shifts from 8:00 9:30 AM and 2:45 4:15 PM
Assignment: Single elementary school with a focus on providing nursing care and support to children

Qualifications:

  • Current RN or LPN license in good standing
  • Experience or interest in pediatric or school nursing
  • Ability to collaborate with school staff and provide a safe, supportive environment for students
  • Reliable and punctual, with strong communication skills

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily health assessments and address immediate medical needs of students
  • Manage medication administration and maintain health records following school policies
  • Provide health education and promote wellness among students and staff
  • Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to support student health needs
  • Ensure compliance with state and local health regulations in the school setting

Additional Details:

  • Supervision support available through assigned paraeducator or nurse assistant staff
  • The district compensates for four hours daily regardless of time spent directly with students
  • Interview scheduling requires 24-hour notice, with a panel or casual format
  • Onboarding includes standard school health protocols; fingerprint clearance may be necessary
