Job Description
Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting K-12 students as a general health room Registered Nurse. This position is ideal for nursing professionals experienced in school-based settings, who are looking to make a meaningful impact across two sites serving preschool through 8th grade. Set just outside Cool, CA, youll work one day per week from September 1st, 2026, through December 1st, 2026, providing essential health services and collaborating with a supportive educational team.
Skills & Experience Sought:
- Active California RN license required
- Previous experience in school nursing or pediatric care highly preferred
- Familiarity with IEP processes, particularly Health and Development assessments
- Comfortable working with a diverse student population, including those with special healthcare needs
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to provide training on medical interventions such as tube feeding and EPI-Pen use
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Health and Development section of IEP assessments, preparing and submitting reports for review
- Participate in family meetings as needed to review findings and discuss recommendations
- Update and develop individualized healthcare plans
- Offer consultation and training for staff regarding complex healthcare needs
- Provide care and support for students at both assigned school campuses
- Respond promptly to requests for health-related consult and support
