Job Description

A part-time registered nurse position is available to provide 1:1 care for a fifth-grade student in an elementary school setting. This role requires specialized pediatric nursing skills to support the student's complex medical needs, including tracheostomy and suctioning care.

Location:

  • Columbus, OH (Elementary School setting)
  • Travel required, including bus transportation to and from school

Position Details:

  • Start Date: December, with an end date of May 22, 2026 (flexible based on needs)
  • Hours: One day per week, Tuesdays
  • Caseload: One student requiring individualized nursing care

Student Medical Needs:

  • Tube feeding and water bolus administration via G-tube
  • Medication delivery via G-tube
  • Tracheostomy care and suctioning (oral and trach)
  • Use of AFO splints (hand and leg)
  • Wheelchair assistance
  • Continence care support
  • Use of Hoyer lift for transfers
  • Monitoring with pulse oximeter

Qualifications:

  • Active Ohio RN license
  • Strong pediatric nursing experience, especially with trach and suctioning
  • Skills in school nursing, pediatric care, and specialized nursing education preferred
  • Ability to safely transport and care for student during bus rides

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver 1:1 nursing care tailored to students medical and personal needs
  • Ensure safe administration of feeding, medication, and medical procedures
  • Collaborate with educational staff to support students health and well-being
  • Maintain detailed health records and communicate with healthcare providers as necessary
