This is a unique role for registered nurses who are inspired to foster student wellness, health education, and a safe school setting. School nursing experience is a plus, but candidates from clinical backgrounds are welcomeprovided you can thoughtfully communicate your motivation for making the transition to a school-based role. Please be aware that compensation for school positions often differs from traditional clinical nursing.
Key Qualifications:
- Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Experience in pediatric, school, or community health is advantageous
- Strong communication skills for interacting with students, staff, and families
- Comfort with large student populations and working in a busy, diverse setting
- Ability to commute reliably to the Waukegan campuscandidates must confirm comfort with the location
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care, medication administration, and emergency support to K-8 students
- Assess and address student health needs, maintaining accurate documentation
- Promote health education and resources throughout the school community
- Serve as a compassionate liaison between students, families, and faculty
- Support the implementation of health and safety policies on campus
