Job Description
Embark on a meaningful contract opportunity near Chicago, IL, as a dedicated school-based nurse providing essential 1:1 care for a student in need of specialized medical support. This full-time position is ideal for a compassionate RN or LPN/LVN with expertise in pediatric and school nursing and a commitment to making a significant impact each day.
Youll work closely with a student diagnosed with developmental delay, seizure disorder, cortical visual impairment, dysautonomia, and who is G-tube dependent and wheelchair-bound. Your role will be vital, ensuring safe, nurturing support throughout the school dayincluding bus transportation to and from school.
Desired Qualifications & Experience:
- Current RN or LPN/LVN license in Illinois is required
- Previous experience in a school or pediatric setting preferred
- Strong background supporting students with complex medical needs (developmental delay, seizure disorders, G-tube care)
- Comfortable providing care for wheelchair-bound students
- Able and willing to ride the bus with the student daily
- CPR certification and knowledge of emergency protocols
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver continuous 1:1 nursing care for the student throughout the school day and during bus rides
- Monitor and manage medical equipment, including G-tube feeds
- Administer prescribed medications and respond promptly to any medical emergencies
- Collaborate with educational staff, therapists, and families to support the students care plan
- Document observations, interventions, and health updates accurately
- Provide supportive care respecting student dignity and privacy
