This part-time contract opportunity near Chicago, IL, allows a dedicated Registered Nurse or Illinois Certified School Nurse to partner with a dynamic school community in Calumet City for the full academic year. Enjoy a balanced schedule working two days a week while empowering young learners to thrive both in and out of the classroom.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois Registered Nurse license or Illinois Certified School Nurse credentials
- Experience working with pediatric populations, preferably within a school environment
- Strong communication skills with students, staff, and families
- Ability to respond calmly and efficiently during health-related incidents
- Knowledge of current nursing best practices and state health regulations for schools
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct healthcare services and first aid to students and staff
- Develop and implement student health plans in collaboration with families and educators
- Maintain accurate health records and manage medication distribution
- Monitor students health status and participate in IEP/504 meetings as needed
- Provide education on wellness, hygiene, and safe practices to the school community
- Support a safe school environment through routine screenings and preventative care
