Job Description

A part-time registered nurse opportunity is available to support a preschool student with unique medical needs in Cambridge, MA. This contract position offers an engaging role in a school setting, working Mondays and Fridays with the potential for summer work and contract renewal through June 30, 2026.

This role is ideal for RNs or LPNs with active Massachusetts licensure and school-based nursing experience. Caring for a very active 3-year-old student requiring a tracheostomy and occasional ventilator support when ill, the nurse will provide direct hands-on nursing care during school hours. Importantly, this position also includes accompanying the student on a van before and after school to ensure safety during transportation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver nursing care tailored to the student's medical needs throughout the school day
  • Monitor and manage tracheostomy and ventilator use when indicated
  • Ride with the student on transportation to and from school to provide skilled care
  • Collaborate with school staff and families to ensure continuity of care
  • Maintain accurate documentation and comply with all school health policies

Qualifications:

  • Active RN or LPN licensure in Massachusetts (CNA and medical assistant candidates will not be considered)
  • Previous school-based nursing experience is required
  • Ability to complete CORI background check and fingerprinting process
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently
  • Availability for Mondays and Fridays onsite at the preschool
