Job Description

Step into a meaningful contract role supporting the well-being and educational experience of a medically fragile student. Located just outside Cambridge, MA, this opportunity is ideal for an experienced Registered Nurse seeking to make a profound difference in a school setting. Youll work four days a week, Tuesday through Friday, from 7:30am to 4:00pm, during both summer and school-year terms.

Key Qualifications:

  • Current Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license required
  • Previous experience in a school, pediatric, or 1:1 nursing setting strongly preferred
  • Skilled in clinical assessment and management of medically fragile, non-verbal children
  • Able to confidently monitor and maintain airway patency, respond to seizure activity, and provide comprehensive documentation
  • Comfortable operating and monitoring oxygen tanks, suction equipment, and heart rate/saturation monitors
  • Excellent communication skills for engaging with parents, classroom nurses, and supervisors

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Accompany and transport a wheelchair-dependent, non-verbal student from Medford to the Boston College Campus School
  • Conduct clinical assessments and monitor for respiratory, seizure, and comfort issues during travel
  • Administer emergency oxygen, suction, and medications as needed
  • Maintain precise, timely documentation of all nursing interventions and observations
  • Communicate daily with classroom nurse, family, and Supervisor of Health Services to ensure consistent, coordinated care
