Step into a rewarding opportunity providing skilled nursing care to a high school student in an educational setting. This contract position is ideal for a compassionate Registered Nurse who thrives in both independent and collaborative environments, and who is eager to make a meaningful impact. The schedule offers part-time, predictable hours onsitework Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00am to 2:30pmallowing for work-life balance.
Youll deliver 1:1 care to a male high school student who is a quadriplegic, utilizing a sip/puff wheelchair, tracheostomy, and ventilator. Support includes airway management, monitoring ventilator equipment, providing urinary catheterization, and assisting with mobility. This is a unique chance to apply your clinical skills while fostering a safe, nurturing environment for the student to learn and grow.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Previous experience in school nursing required
- Skilled in tracheostomy care, ventilator management, and urinary catheterization
- Able to safely lift and assist as needed
- Critical care nursing experience strongly preferred
- LPNs are not eligible for this role
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct, individualized care and interventions during the school day
- Monitor and respond to changes in the students condition
- Manage and troubleshoot trach and ventilator equipment
- Administer and document urinary catheterization
- Collaborate with educators, parents, and healthcare team to support the students educational success
- Maintain a safe and respectful environment
