Job Description

A unique opportunity is available for a skilled Registered Nurse to provide one-to-one nursing support for a student enrolled in an Early Childhood Program. This role focuses on delivering specialized care for a student with complex medical needs, including chronic lung disease, ventilator dependence, and multiple coexisting conditions.

Location & Schedule:

  • Primary reporting location is the students home in Winfield, IL; nurse will accompany the student via bus to and from school located in Wheaton, IL (zip code 60187). Candidates should confirm travel feasibility before applying.
  • Workdays are Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from approximately 8:15 AM to 3:30 PM.
  • Thursdays and Fridays are half-days, from 9:00 AM to 11:45 AM.
  • Contract position available immediately through May 28, 2026.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care including tracheostomy suctioning and management; student has a history of removing the trach, requiring vigilance and quick response.
  • Monitor and recognize signs of adrenal crisis, administering Act-O-Vial SoluCortef injections promptly as needed.
  • Support complex medical equipment use and manage conditions such as pulmonary hypertension, hypopituitarism, dysphagia, hearing loss, and Autism Spectrum Disorder.
  • Collaborate with educational and healthcare teams to maintain a safe and supportive environment for the students health and learning needs.

Qualifications:

  • Licensed Registered Nurse, Illinois.
  • Previous experience in school nursing required; LPNs not eligible.
  • Expertise in tracheostomy care, including suctioning and insertion.
  • Skilled in emergency response and medication administration relevant to the students conditions.
