Job Description

A school-based nursing professional is needed for a contract position supporting a student with extensive medical needs. This role requires either an RN or LPN/LVN with experience in school nursing to provide specialized, one-on-one care during the school year. The position is based in Arlington Heights, IL, with the student located in Chicago, IL (60621), and requires travel on the bus with the student.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 nursing care to a student with complex medical needs throughout the school day
  • Monitor students health status and administer medications or treatments as prescribed
  • Ride the bus with the student to ensure continuous care during transport
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, school staff, and healthcare providers to support the students health and educational goals
  • Respond promptly and appropriately to medical emergencies or changes in condition
  • Document nursing care accurately according to school and healthcare guidelines

Qualifications:

  • Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) with experience in school nursing
  • Strong understanding of medical protocols and student health management
  • Ability to provide patient-focused care in a school environment
  • Comfortable riding transportation with the student and managing care during transit
  • Reliable and able to start ASAP for a year-round school schedule
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
