Job Description
A school-based registered nurse position is available to provide specialized 1:1 healthcare support for a medically fragile student. This full-semester contract role requires working onsite approximately 31 hours per week at a school in Anoka, MN. The nurse will deliver critical care to a student with complex medical needs including tracheostomy, ventilation, and gastrostomy feeding.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide skilled nursing care for a student requiring tracheostomy and ventilator support
- Manage continuous G-J tube feedings and ostomy care, including regular changes as needed
- Administer nasally delivered medication for seizure management and oversee respiratory treatments using a nebulizer
- Monitor oxygen levels and manage oxygen tank usage
- Respond to adrenal insufficiency and other medical emergencies promptly
- Maintain accurate health records in compliance with professional standards
- Collaborate with school staff and healthcare providers to ensure student safety and well-being
Qualifications:
- Active Minnesota Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- Current CPR/BLS certification mandatory
- Demonstrated experience with tracheostomy care required
- Previous pediatric nursing experience preferred
- Strong ability to work independently in a fast-paced school setting
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
