A healthcare position is available for a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to support an elementary student with specialized medical needs in a school setting. This contract opportunity is based in South Hadley, MA, focusing on providing compassionate and attentive care during the school day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver personalized nursing care tailored to a student with a seizure disorder, nonverbal communication, wheelchair dependence, and gastrostomy tube (GT) feeding
- Monitor health status, administer medications, and respond to medical emergencies as needed
- Collaborate with educators, therapists, and families to ensure safety and well-being
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of health records and care plans
- Provide health education and preventive care in line with school policies
Required Qualifications:
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license
- Current CPR certification
- Previous experience working with pediatric populations, preferably within school or pediatric nursing settings
- Competence in managing complex medical conditions such as seizure disorders and enteral feeding
- Strong observational skills and ability to provide compassionate care
Position Details:
- Full-time schedule, Monday through Friday during school hours
- Caseload includes one elementary student requiring attentive, individualized nursing support
- Based in a school environment in Amherst, MA
