A full-time registered nurse (RN) or licensed practical/vocational nurse (LPN/LVN) is sought to provide dedicated healthcare services within an elementary school setting. This contract position offers the opportunity to support young students through personalized 1:1 care and manage an elementary school caseload, ensuring their health and well-being during the school year.
Location: Ames, IA
Duration: Contract - Current school year (CSY)
Schedule: Full time
Start Date: Immediate availability desired
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct nursing care and health assessments to students 1:1, addressing individual medical needs.
- Manage and monitor an elementary school caseload, coordinating care plans and communicating with school staff and families.
- Provide health education and emergency response, fostering a safe and healthy environment.
- Maintain accurate health records and comply with school health policies and regulations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support student wellness and inclusion.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid and current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN).
- Prior experience working in school nursing or public health settings preferred.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to student health advocacy and confidentiality.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities while maintaining attention to detail.
