Job Description

Step into a rewarding opportunity impacting students literacy as a dedicated Reading Specialist. This contract, full-time position offers 37.5 hours per week in an onsite, school-based setting, serving an elementary caseload. The assignment begins August 24, 2026, and continues through June 10, 2027, placing you at the forefront of literacy instruction and intervention.

Key Qualifications:

  • Reading Specialist certification required
  • Active PA teaching certification/licensure essential
  • Comprehensive school-based experience
  • Proficiency in urban educational environments
  • Reliable transportation to and from the worksite
  • Demonstrated mastery of reading instruction, instructional strategies, and resource utilization
  • Strong classroom and behavioral management capabilities
  • Experience crafting lesson plans aligned to state/district standards and differentiated by ongoing student assessment
  • Able to obtain and maintain all required Pennsylvania clearances prior to start

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and assess literacy-focused lesson plans aligned to the most current standards
  • Deliver small and whole-group reading interventions, adapting instructional methods to meet diverse learning needs
  • Collaborate with other educators and staff to support student reading progress
  • Monitor and report on student growth, using data to inform interventions and support
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and contribute to a positive, student-centered school climate
