Job Description

Make a meaningful impact supporting K-12 students as a Reading Specialist in a contract position located near Dorchester, MA. This role offers a chance to provide essential reading interventions and literacy support to a diverse group of 27 students across all grade levels. With a consistent schedule of 35 hours per week over five days, you'll have the opportunity to tailor instruction, collaborate with educators, and directly influence student success within a dynamic educational setting.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid Massachusetts Reading Specialist certification
  • Demonstrated experience implementing targeted reading interventions
  • Strong skills in assessing reading abilities and designing individualized instructional plans
  • Familiarity with both elementary and secondary literacy development
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with teachers, parents, and administrators

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized reading instruction to a caseload of 27 students at various grade levels (K-12)
  • Assess student needs and create customized intervention strategies
  • Work collaboratively with classroom teachers to integrate reading support into broader curricula
  • Monitor student progress, maintaining detailed records and adjusting strategies as needed
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student growth and recommendations
  • Participate in IEP/504 meetings when applicable
