Are you passionate about supporting literacy development and making a difference in students' lives? An exciting contract opportunity is available for two dedicated Reading Specialists to work full-time with K-8 students in an elementary school setting. This onsite position offers a chance to help shape young readers in an urban learning environment. The assignment begins as soon as possible and runs through June 10, 2027, with a commitment of 35 hours per week.

Your qualifications:

• Hold a valid and active Pennsylvania reading specialist certification
• Previous experience as a reading specialist and with school-based settings
• Demonstrated expertise in literacy instruction and classroom management
• Able to create effective, standards-aligned lesson plans that promote differentiated instruction and use formative assessment to drive progress
• Comfortable working in an urban education environment and familiar with relevant district and state expectations
• Completed all required Pennsylvania clearances or ability to obtain them quickly
• Possess reliable transportation for onsite responsibilities
• Strong behavioral management skills and ability to foster a positive classroom culture
• Experience working with students from various backgrounds, especially in an urban district

Role responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver targeted reading interventions for K-8 students
• Assess student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to enhance literacy outcomes
• Maintain accurate records and communicate regularly with families and school teams
