Job Description

Step into a dynamic role supporting elementary and K-8 students as a Reading Specialist. This full-time, contract position offers the opportunity to work onsite with two openings currently available. Youll play a vital part in nurturing literacy skills and academic growth, making a real difference from your start date through June 10, 2027.

Ideal candidates will bring expertise, proactive classroom leadership, and an enthusiasm for working in urban educational environments. Youll collaborate with colleagues, tailor instruction to student needs, and provide targeted interventions to elevate every learners reading potential.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Active Pennsylvania certification/licensure and reading specialist certification required
  • Demonstrated proficiency in related instructional areas and mastery of course materials
  • Minimum of school-based experience; comfort working in an urban setting highly preferred
  • Strong classroom and behavioral management abilities
  • Ability to develop and implement differentiated lesson plans aligned with state and district standards
  • Must be able to complete all Pennsylvania required clearances
  • Reliable transportation to the site is necessary
  • Commitment to collaborating within a team-oriented atmosphere

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver reading instruction to K-8 students in accordance with IEPs and literacy requirements
  • Create engaging, data-driven lesson plans incorporating formative assessments
  • Adapt teaching methods to diverse student needs, ensuring inclusive and equitable instruction
  • Provide resources and support to encourage parental and community involvement in literacy activities
  • Maintain accurate educational records and participate in professional development
  • Uphold all school policies and demonstrate proactive engagement in the school community
