Job Description
Make a difference in the lives of students by providing expertise as a Physical Therapist for the current school year. This contract opportunity is for a position serving pre-K through 12th grade students with a range of needs, including mild to severe disabilities, autism, cognitive disabilities, and medically fragile conditions. The assignment is based near Nottingham, MD and offers a chance to work with a diverse student population in a supportive, educational setting.
Required Qualifications:
- Active Maryland PT license
- Experience working in school settings or with pediatric populations preferred
- Knowledge of individualized education program (IEP) processes and special education regulations
- Understanding of physical therapy interventions for students with various needs, including those who are blind or visually impaired
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Ability to adapt to diverse learning environments and modify therapy techniques accordingly
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver physical therapy services to students across pre-K to 12th grade, targeting individualized goals within the educational environment
- Assess, plan, and implement interventions for students with autism, cognitive and physical disabilities, and those who are medically fragile
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families to optimize student participation and independence
- Participate in IEP meetings; document progress, develop goals, and provide recommendations for adaptations or assistive equipment
- Contribute to building-wide accessibility and inclusion strategies
