Your expertise will be essential in ensuring students receive the personalized attention and care they need to succeed both in and outside the classroom.
Desired qualifications and experience:
- Licensed Physical Therapist with a current credential in New York State
- Experience working with children and youth in school or pediatric settings preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with students, parents, and multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to create and implement effective, individualized therapy plans
- Familiarity with IEP documentation and progress reporting
- Adaptable and committed to fostering a positive learning environment
Key responsibilities:
- Evaluate students to determine physical therapy needs/goals within an educational context
- Develop and execute individualized therapeutic interventions supporting academic access and participation
- Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and families to provide guidance on classroom modifications and safe mobility
- Monitor, document, and report on student progress, updating plans as needed
- Attend and contribute to IEP meetings as part of the student support team
- Provide training to school staff on pertinent topics such as equipment use and injury prevention
