Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Valid license to practice Physical Therapy in the state
- Previous experience in school-based or pediatric physical therapy highly preferred
- Strong understanding of Individualized Education Programs (IEP) and ability to contribute to IEP meetings
- Familiarity with adaptive equipment and assistive technology
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently as well as in multidisciplinary teams
- Compassion, patience, and adaptability in fast-paced school environments
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and evaluate students to determine physical therapy needs within the educational setting
- Develop and implement customized treatment plans to support students educational goals
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to facilitate access to classroom and school activities
- Monitor and document student progress, making adjustments to therapy as necessary
- Participate in IEP meetings to provide expertise on each students physical development and support
- Educate school staff and caregivers on safe handling techniques and exercises
- Maintain accurate records in compliance with state and federal guidelines
