Physical Therapist (School-Based)

Contract Dates: October 13th, 2026 June 4th, 2027
Schedule: Part-Time (School Calendar)

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physical Therapist (PT) to join our team for the 20262027 school year. The PT will support students in developing the functional skills necessary for academic success and independent participation in school activities. This role involves collaboration with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to provide targeted therapeutic interventions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate students' motor development, mobility, posture, strength, balance, and functional abilities
  • Develop and implement individualized physical therapy treatment plans aligned with educational goals
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to multidisciplinary team discussions
  • Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, psychologists, and administrators
  • Provide direct and consultative physical therapy services in classroom, playground, and school environments
  • Recommend adaptive equipment, positioning supports, and mobility devices as needed
  • Train and support school staff and families on implementing student mobility and physical access strategies
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation, progress reports, and compliance records
  • Ensure compliance with IDEA, California Department of Education guidelines, and district policies
  • Travel between assigned school sites when necessary

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) or Master's Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program
  • Current California Physical Therapist license in good standing
  • Experience working with pediatric populations
  • Knowledge of special education processes and IEP development
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively with students, families, educators, and multidisciplinary teams

Preferred Skills

  • Previous school-based physical therapy experience
  • Knowledge of assistive technology and adaptive equipment
  • Experience with students with autism spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy, orthopedic impairments, and developmental delays

Compensation for this position ranges from $32.00 to $85.00. Eligible candidates may also receive healthcare benefits, housing, and meals/incidentals. Full details of our healthcare benefits plan can be found here. This posting is open for 60 days after the posting date.
