Step into a rewarding full-time contract opportunity as a school paraprofessional for the 2026-2027 school year. This vital role offers the chance to make a meaningful difference at an elementary campus, supporting both classroom learning and individual student needs. You'll play a key role by assisting teachers with instructional support, maintaining a positive learning environment, and providing 1:1 support for a student with diabetes.
Your days will follow a MondayFriday schedule, totaling 35 hours each week. The workday includes a 30-minute unpaid lunch along with two 15-minute unpaid breaks, allowing you to recharge and stay refreshed. Your skills will be essential in helping students succeed, academically and socially, in a dynamic and nurturing school environment.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois Para certification required
- Experience working with elementary-aged children, especially those exhibiting challenging behaviors
- Preferred: Experience assisting with toileting
- Capacity to respond flexibly in a busy classroom setting
- Compassion and understanding for students with diverse needs
What Youll Do:
- Provide daily classroom management support and collaborate closely with teachers
- Offer 1:1 assistance to a student managing diabetes
- Facilitate participation in classroom activities and learning sessions
- Assist with toileting and personal care as necessary
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment for all students
