Make a real difference in the day-to-day educational experience for students requiring dedicated, supportive assistance at the elementary level. A contract paraprofessional opportunity is available onsite, focusing on providing individualized instructional and behavioral support for a student in need of a high level of care. This role is vital to a successful learning environment and supports an immediate start.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Delaware Paraeducator Permit is required and must be in hand prior to the start date; applications or pending permits alone will not be accepted.
- Experience supporting children with instructional and behavioral needs in a school setting preferred.
- Ability to follow individualized education plans, support positive behavior strategies, and maintain confidentiality.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to positively engage with students, teachers, and families.
- Willingness to complete mandatory fingerprinting/background check process.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver one-on-one support to a student with academic and behavioral challenges, never exceeding a 1:2 adult-to-student ratio.
- Foster a supportive classroom atmosphere by implementing teacher- and BCBA-directed strategies.
- Provide personal care, redirection, and reinforcement as needed to encourage engagement and promote learning.
- Collaborate with staff to monitor student progress and adapt support as needs evolve.
- Maintain organized daily documentation and uphold school policies.
This contract position offers a consistent Monday through Friday schedule consisting of 35 hours per week, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch each day.
