This full-time contract position is tailored for a dedicated paraprofessional ready to offer both classroom instruction assistance and focused 1:1 support. Your role will be vital, especially for a student managing diabetes, as youll assist educators, facilitate engaging activities, and help create a safe, encouraging atmosphere for learning.
What Youll Bring:
- Valid Illinois Paraprofessional certification
- Prior experience supporting elementary students, especially those with challenging behaviors
- Preferred background in assisting with toileting needs
- Compassion, patience, and the ability to adapt in an energetic school environment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist teachers by promoting learning and supporting classroom management
- Provide individualized 1:1 assistance, particularly for a diabetic student
- Supervise and engage students throughout daily routines and academic activities
- Offer hands-on help with toileting and personal care as required
- Collaborate with educators and staff to enhance the educational experience for all students
This role is full-time, Monday through Friday, totaling 35 hours per week, and includes a 30-minute unpaid lunch with two 15-minute unpaid breaks. The position is based at an elementary school in North Chicago and covers the entire 20262027 school year.
