Job Description

A full-time position is available for experienced paraprofessionals to support elementary school students within a public school district in Providence, RI. This contract assignment runs from ASAP through June 16, 2026, with a commitment of 32.5 hours per week. The role involves working with students requiring behavioral and instructional support, including 1:1 and small-group assistance in classroom and community settings.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing individualized and group instructional support tailored to student needs
  • Implementing classroom accommodations and behavioral interventions
  • Assisting with transitions, community-based outings, and bus supervision
  • Supporting both classroom-based and 1:1 paraprofessional assignments

Qualifications and experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Must meet one of the following educational or certification criteria: Passing ParaPro assessment score of 461 or higher Completion of two years of college Associates degree or higher Valid Teacher Assistant certification from another state
  • Completion of, or current enrollment in, a RIDE-approved Teacher Assistant Training Program
  • Minimum of one year experience working as a teacher assistant/paraprofessional supporting students with behavioral challenges
