Qualifications and Experience Needed:
- Previous experience as a paraprofessional, classroom assistant, or similar support role
- Skilled in providing both behavioral and academic support, especially in a 1:1 setting
- Understanding of elementary education principles and classroom management
- Patience, strong communication, and a caring approach when working with young learners
- Ability to collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and families
- Flexibility to assist with daily classroom tasks and adapt to students changing needs
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Offer 1:1 support for a student requiring academic reinforcement and behavioral guidance
- Assist with classroom routines, including helping students complete assignments and participate in group activities
- Implement strategies outlined in students individualized support plans, working alongside educators
- Monitor and document student progress, sharing observations with instructional teams
- Reinforce positive behaviors using proactive and consistent methods
- Provide sensitivity and encouragement, helping foster confidence and success in each learner
