Job Description

Step into a rewarding, contract-based opportunity assisting students as an Orthopedic Impairment Assistant for the upcoming school year. This full-time, onsite role supports an OI Specialist to ensure students with mobility needs have access to a safe and empowering learning environment. The assignment runs from August 21, 2025, through June 4, 2026, offering the chance to make a daily impact in collaboration with a dedicated educational team.

Key Requirements and Experience

  • Paraprofessional skills and experience working within school environments
  • CPI Certification required
  • Proven expertise with assistive technology and mobility device training
  • CNA/medical training is highly desirable
  • Prior experience in California schools is a strong plus
  • Strong administrative background preferred
  • Bilingual in Spanish (required)
  • Comfort in an itinerant support model (travel required to various sites)

Role Responsibilities

  • Partner with the OI Specialist to assist students using walkers, wheelchairs, and other devices
  • Help monitor, train and support students with the use of mobility and assistive equipment
  • Oversee safety and proper use of all orthopedic devices during day-to-day school activities
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to maximize students independence and participation
  • Provide administrative support by maintaining accurate records and communicating updates
  • Travel between multiple school locations as part of an itinerant assignment
