Make a positive difference each day by supporting students with significant behavioral needs as a dedicated paraprofessional in our specialized school programs near North Bergen. This full-time contract opportunity is designed for someone who is compassionate, adaptable, and eager to work in environments where students require a higher level of support due to severe behaviors. The role centers around students who have not thrived in traditional settings and now benefit from structured ABA and ERI programs.
Key Qualifications:
- Paraprofessional certification or an Associates degree (AA) required
- Previous experience in ABA settings is preferred, but not necessary
- Positive approach and strong commitment to working with students experiencing severe behavioral challenges
- Willingness and capacity to accept and implement safety and de-escalation training (provided)
- Collaborative mindset and reliability in supporting both students and colleagues
- Compassion, patience, and the desire to effect meaningful change
Primary Responsibilities:
- Engage daily with students as part of the ABA and ERI programs, providing consistent structure and support
- Implement strategies as directed by teachers and behavioral specialists to encourage student progress
- Participate in ongoing safety and de-escalation training sessions offered by the district
- Foster a safe, respectful, and supportive classroom environment, assisting students as needed
- Communicate effectively with school staff and therapy providers to support individual student plans
