Job Description

This opportunity is for passionate Autism Support Interventionists to provide direct assistance to students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in specialized and inclusive educational settings. The role involves implementing behavior intervention plans and supporting students academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development in K-12 schools within Carbon and Lehigh Counties, PA. The position follows the school calendar and runs through June 12, 2026.

Location:

  • Various school sites in Carbon and Lehigh Counties, PA
  • Potential placements include enhanced autism programs and elementary schools that focus on behavioral support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver one-on-one or small group support tailored to students with autism.
  • Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) alongside classroom teachers and behavior specialists.
  • Collect and document data on student behaviors, Individualized Education Program (IEP) progress, and teaching methods.
  • Assist students during daily routines, transitions, and sensory breaks to promote engagement.
  • Use evidence-based interventions such as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), visual schedules, and social stories.
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and positive classroom environment.
  • Collaborate closely with educational and therapeutic teams to ensure consistency.
  • Provide personal care assistance when necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree preferred in Education, Psychology, ABA, Social Behavior, or a related field.
  • Candidates with an Associates degree plus a minimum of 1 year (preferably 3 years) of experience working with students with autism or behavioral challenges will be considered.
  • Solid knowledge of autism spectrum disorders and behavior management techniques.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective during behavioral incidents, including elopement and aggression.
  • Basic computer proficiency for documentation purposes.
  • Dependable, team-oriented, and professional in managing challenging situations.

This contract position is approximately 32.535 hours per week and offers an enriching environment for professionals dedicated to supporting students with autism. Openings are available on a first-come, first-served basis and may change based on client needs.
