Make a direct impact on early childhood education as a Paraprofessional/Instructional Assistant supporting integrated and self-contained preschool classrooms for ages 3-5. This contract position offers part-time hours, Monday through Friday from 8:15 am to 1:45 pm, making it a great fit for those seeking a daytime schedule near Schenectady, NY.
You will work closely with classroom teachers and therapists to provide support for young learners with mild to moderate disabilities. Your efforts will contribute to creating a nurturing environment that fosters growth, learning, and inclusion for every student.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- At least 1 year of experience working with children under 11 years old
- Compassionate, attentive, and proactive approach
- Ability to follow teacher instructions and school protocols
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Responsibilities:
- Assist lead teachers with daily classroom activities, routines, and transitions
- Provide individual or small group support, reinforcing lessons and encouraging participation
- Support students with mild to moderate disabilities in academic, social, and play activities
- Help with classroom setup, materials preparation, and clean-up
- Promote a supportive, positive environment for all children
- Follow safety, health, and confidentiality guidelines
- Collaborate effectively with the classroom team
