Job Description

Make an impact by supporting students in diverse classroom settings near San Mateo, CA as a dedicated Paraprofessional for the Extended School Year (ESY) term. This contract position offers the chance to work closely with children and youth across a range of grade levels, including Pre-K, Elementary, Middle, High School, and County Programs. Flexibility and collaboration are key, as campus assignments are based on student needs. Desired Qualifications:

  • An Associates Degree or higher, 48 college units and a high school diploma, OR passing of CBEST or instructional aide exam with a high school diploma
  • Additional certifications/licenses are highly valued: CPR/First Aid, emergency medication training, physical health care modules, knowledge of sign language or Braille, experience supporting students with behavioral needs, or a California Vocational Nursing license
  • Willingness to provide full support including toileting, feeding, g-tube feeding, and other personal care as required
  • Reliable, able to stand for extended periods and work as part of a dynamic team
  • Experience with social-emotional and behavioral supports is a plus

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a supportive presence for students with diverse learning, behavioral, and physical needs
  • Assist students throughout their school day, including classroom engagement and personal care
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment
  • Collaborate with educators, therapists, and fellow staff according to campus placement
  • Maintain flexibility in assignments, supporting varied age groups and programs as needed

ESY Schedule:

  • Various shifts by grade level, June 15mid-July, Monday through Friday (holidays observed)
