Job Description
A school district in San Francisco, California is seeking a qualified Paraprofessional for a fulltime, schoolbased contract. This position serves K12 students and focuses on supporting classroom instruction, student engagement, and behavioral needs. Candidates must meet state and district paraprofessional requirements and demonstrate a strong commitment to supporting student success in an inclusive learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide classroom support under the direction of a licensed teacher or special education staff
- Assist students with academic tasks, assignments, and instructional activities
- Provide 1:1 or smallgroup support for students with learning or behavioral needs
- Support implementation of IEPs and behavior intervention plans
- Assist with classroom management and help maintain a structured learning environment
- Support students with socialemotional development and daily routines
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and related service providers
- Maintain accurate documentation and follow district policies and procedures
Qualifications
- Meet one of the following requirements:
- Associates degree or higher, OR
- Minimum of 48 college units and a high school diploma, OR
- Passing score on the CBEST and a high school diploma, OR
- Passing score on the Instructional Aide Exam and a high school diploma
- Ability to pass background checks, fingerprinting, and district clearances
Education
- High school diploma required
- Associates or Bachelors degree in Education or a related field preferred
Experience
- Previous experience working with children or in a school setting preferred
- Experience supporting students with special needs or behavioral challenges strongly preferred
Skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow instructional plans and behavior strategies
- Strong classroom support and organizational abilities
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment
- Commitment to supporting diverse student populations
Work Hours
- MondayFriday
- 8:00 AM 3:30 PM
- Approximately 3740 hours per week
