Location: San Francisco, CA

Schedule: 5.5 hours per day | 27.5 hours per week

Assignment: School-Year Contract (August End of Academic Year)

Position Overview

We are seeking Elementary Instructional Aides/Paraprofessionals to support students across school sites in San Francisco. Candidates are assigned to a campus; however, daily roles and responsibilities are determined based on site needs.

This position requires individuals who are flexible, dependable, and team-oriented, and comfortable supporting students with a broad range of academic, behavioral, and medical needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support classroom instruction under the direction of the teacher
  • Assist students with daily living activities, including:
    • Toileting and hygiene support
    • Feeding and mealtime assistance
  • Provide support for students with medical and physical needs, including (based on assignment and training):
    • G-tube feeding
    • Blood glucose monitoring
    • Asthma treatments
  • Help manage classroom behavior and support social-emotional development
  • Assist students in various environments (classroom, campus, and community-based settings when applicable)
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, specialists, and school staff

Important Assignment Expectations

  • Assignments are campus-based and needs-driven not role-specific
  • All paraprofessionals must be willing to perform any assigned duties within scope, including personal care and medical assistance
  • Refusal to perform assigned responsibilities may result in dismissal
  • While preferences may be discussed at the site level, placements are not guaranteed
  • Candidates must demonstrate a strong team-player mindset

Minimum Qualifications (Required for All Classifications)

Must meet one of the following:

  • Associates Degree or higher
  • OR 48 college units + High School Diploma
  • OR Passing of CBEST + High School Diploma
  • OR Passing of Instructional Aide Exam + High School Diploma

Additional Classification Requirements S10 / S10A / S10E

  • Annual Emergency Anti-Seizure Medication Training (as required)
  • CPR & First Aid Certification (renewed every 2 years; district funded)

S10F (Advanced Health Support)

  • CPR & First Aid Certification
  • Training in:
    • G-tube feeding
    • Blood glucose testing
    • Asthma medication administration
    • Additional procedures (e.g., suctioning, catheterization, oxygen support)

S10Q (Behavioral Support)

  • Minimum 1 year experience supporting students with significant behavioral or social-emotional needs

S10W (Community-Based Support)

  • Ability to stand up to 5 hours while supporting students in community settings

S20D (Deaf/Hard of Hearing Support)

  • Fluency in sign language systems
  • Knowledge of deaf culture
  • Ability to facilitate communication using sign language

S20V (Vision Support)

  • Preferred: Background in Braille or vision impairment services

S22 (Health Services Support)

  • Valid California LVN license
  • Current CPR & First Aid Certification

Compensation for this position ranges from $21.00 to $36.00. Eligible candidates may also receive healthcare benefits, housing, and meals/incidentals.
