Job Description

Make a meaningful difference as an ASL Paraprofessional supporting students and educators at a school for the Deaf. This onsite, contract position offers the opportunity to engage with students in grades K-12 while fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment. In this rewarding role, you'll work closely with teachers, assisting with daily classroom activities and ensuring that Deaf and Hard of Hearing students have access to high-quality education and communication.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) is essential
  • Valid California Paraprofessional License required
  • Prior experience working in a school setting or with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with educational accommodations and IEP processes is a plus
  • Collaborative, adaptable, and patient approach to supporting diverse learners
  • Ability to support teachers and facilitate positive classroom engagement for students across K-12

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide classroom assistance and instructional support to students and teachers
  • Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and peers using ASL
  • Foster a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment
  • Assist with classroom organization and daily routines
  • Work alongside educational teams to implement IEPs and individual accommodations
  • Support students in developing both academic and life skills
  • Adapt to diverse instructional strategies to meet each students needs
