Job Description

Support students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) by providing direct behavioral and academic assistance in specialized and inclusive K-12 settings within Carbon and Lehigh Counties, PA. This contract position spans the current school year, starting ASAP through June 12, 2026, and offers 32.5 to 35 hours per week. Opportunities are available at multiple sites, including enhanced autism programs and elementary schools supporting behavioral needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver one-on-one or small group support tailored to students with autism.
  • Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) under guidance from teachers and behavior specialists.
  • Collect and document data on behavior, IEP goal progress, and instructional strategies.
  • Assist students with daily routines, transitions, and sensory breaks.
  • Utilize evidence-based interventions such as ABA, PECS, visual schedules, and social stories.
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive classroom environment.
  • Collaborate with educational and therapeutic teams to ensure consistent communication.
  • Provide support for personal care needs when necessary, including toileting and feeding.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Education, Psychology, ABA, Social Behavior, or related field preferred.
  • Associates degree with at least one year (preferably three) of experience working with students with autism or behavioral challenges considered.
  • Strong knowledge of autism spectrum disorders and behavioral intervention techniques.
  • Ability to remain calm and effectively manage behavioral incidents, including elopement or aggression.
  • Basic computer proficiency for documentation and communication.
  • Dependable, team-oriented professional who maintains appropriate boundaries.

Locations:

  • Carbon County and Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, with multiple school sites offering specialized autism support programs.
