Job Description
Support the learning and development of young students by providing dedicated assistance as a Special Education Paraprofessional in Houston, TX. This full-time position focuses on prekindergarten through 4th grade students, emphasizing personalized support for children with special needs, particularly those on the autism spectrum.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for a caseload of approximately 5 students.
- Support nonverbal and autistic students in classroom and daily living activities.
- Apply behavior intervention strategies and de-escalation techniques to promote a positive learning environment.
- Aid with personal hygiene and life skills development to foster independence and well-being.
- Collaborate with teachers and school staff to create a safe, supportive, and engaging classroom setting.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Previous experience working with autistic and nonverbal students.
- Proficient in behavior intervention methodologies and de-escalation techniques.
- Skilled in supporting personal hygiene and life skills for young children.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with prekindergarten (Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4) through 4th grade students.
- Credentials or certifications relevant to special education paraprofessional roles are preferred.
Location & Schedule:
- Based in Houston, TX, serving students in a school environment.
- Full-time hours, Monday through Friday.
