Job Description

Step into a rewarding contract position supporting a vibrant young learner as a Sign Language Paraprofessional. In this role, you'll work 1:1 with a first-grade student, providing essential support to foster inclusion and help them thrive in the classroom setting. This opportunity is nearby Orange, CA, at an elementary school, offering weekdays-only hours from 6 hours per day, Monday to Friday, for a total of 30 hours weekly. The assignment runs from now until early June 2026, aligning perfectly with the school calendar.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner closely with a single first-grade student to provide consistent in-class support.
  • Facilitate communication by interpreting and translating between American Sign Language (ASL) and English.
  • Collaborate with teachers and school staff to ensure the students educational needs are met.
  • Support the student during classroom activities, transitions, and assignments.
  • Help reinforce lessons, encourage social interaction, and promote independence in learning.
  • Maintain open communication with educational team regarding student progress.

Qualifications:

  • Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) is required.
  • Previous experience as a paraprofessional or in a support role within a school setting is preferred.
  • Patience, adaptability, and passion for working with young children.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to commit to the full duration of the assignment.
