Job Description

Step into a meaningful role supporting students in a specialized educational setting. A full-time contract paraprofessional position is available for passionate individuals eager to make a direct impact. This opportunity starts as soon as possible and is expected to last at least 4 months, with the possibility of extending up to a year. Youll work Monday through Friday, from 8am to 4pm, partnering one-on-one with a student who has emotional disabilities and diabetes, providing crucial assistance in a nurturing environment.

What were looking for:

  • Active Paraprofessional Certification for Illinois
  • Professional Educator License (PEL) with Paraprofessional endorsement
  • Experience working in schools, particularly with students requiring extra emotional or medical support
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate as part of an educational team
  • Compassion, patience, and a proactive approach to supporting student needs

Key responsibilities:

  • Offer direct, daily support to a student, guiding both academic and behavioral growth
  • Monitor and respond to the medical needs associated with diabetes under guidance from school healthcare professionals
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and specialists to ensure a comprehensive support plan
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and behavior
  • Foster a safe, trusting, and encouraging classroom atmosphere
  • Assist with adapting instructional materials and activities as needed
