This contract position offers the chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), behavioral support needs, and learning disabilities. As a valued team member, you'll provide both one-on-one and group assistance, helping students access their education and reach their fullest potential.
In this full-time, onsite role, youll work 37.5 hours per week within a single school community, fostering relationships and continuity of care. You'll collaborate closely with teachers and other support staff, implementing individualized strategies and interventions tailored to student needs.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Previous experience working as a paraprofessional or in a similar classroom support role
- Understanding of, or a willingness to learn about, ASD, behavior management, and learning disabilities
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Patient, adaptable, and compassionate approach
- Ability to follow individualized student plans and teacher direction
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide targeted academic and behavioral support to students in both group and 1:1 settings
- Assist with daily classroom activities and help foster an inclusive, positive learning atmosphere
- Support the implementation of behavior intervention strategies as directed by educational team
- Monitor student progress and document observations
- Encourage student independence and participation
