Job Description

Make an impact by supporting a young learner in a vibrant educational environment as an American Sign Language (ASL) paraprofessional. This contract opportunity takes place in a supportive school setting close to Mission Viejo, with a consistent schedule and the chance to build meaningful connections through one-on-one support.

Youll work closely with a 1st-grade student, serving as a dedicated paraprofessional and Sign Language Interpreter. Your role will focus on facilitating communication, enhancing learning experiences, and fostering a positive classroom environment. This is a fantastic opportunity for those fluent in ASL and passionate about supporting inclusive education.

Key Qualifications:

  • Fluency in American Sign Language required
  • Experience as a paraprofessional, interpreter, or in special education support is highly valued
  • Ability to work one-on-one with elementary-aged children
  • Enthusiastic, patient, and highly adaptable
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with students and staff

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct support and sign language interpretation for a 1st-grade student in a school environment
  • Facilitate communication between the student, teachers, and peers to support academic and social participation
  • Implement strategies and accommodations as directed by educational staff and supervision
  • Maintain daily records and collaborate on student progress
  • Encourage student independence and engagement throughout the school day

Assignment Details:

  • Contract position running ASAP through June 4, 2026
  • Monday-Friday, 6 hours per day (30 hours per week)
  • Single school assignment; no travel between schools required
  • Work under supervision of educational staff
