Job Description

Take on an exciting opportunity to support an elementary school student in a contract ASL Paraprofessional role working full time, 32 hours per week. In this role, you'll provide essential assistance within the classroom environment, helping ensure meaningful communication and engagement for a male elementary student who relies on American Sign Language. This assignment offers an impactful way to make a difference while collaborating with dedicated educators and specialists.

Qualifications & Experience Desired:

  • Proficiency and fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) are required
  • Previous experience as a paraprofessional or in a classroom support role preferred
  • Experience working with elementary-aged students, especially in special education, is an advantage
  • Strong communication skills, patience, and adaptability
  • EIPA certification is not needed for this position

Key Responsibilities:

  • Offer one-on-one support to a male elementary student, facilitating communication and learning using ASL
  • Assist with classroom activities, instructional sessions, and social interactions to promote student participation
  • Work closely with classroom teachers and related service providers to implement IEP goals and individualized strategies
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive environment, encouraging student independence and self-advocacy
  • Monitor progress, provide feedback, and collaborate on strategies for continued student success
