Job Description
Support student success across a diverse school district by serving as a Substitute Paraprofessional in special education classrooms. This role offers a guaranteed 30 hours per week, providing consistent work within multiple elementary, middle, and high schools. You will cover call-outs district-wide, assisting students with behavioral needs and individualized support plans while maintaining flexibility to step into 1:1 or classroom aide positions.
Location: Lees Summit, MO (serving various schools within the district)
Responsibilities:
- Provide in-class support to students with special education needs, including behavioral interventions and assistance with toileting as required
- Implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and adapt to diverse classroom environments ranging from elementary to high school
- Work closely with teaching staff to reinforce learning objectives and positive behavior
- Respond to calls for substitute coverage via a dedicated app, selecting shifts across multiple school sites
- Maintain professional conduct and confidentiality in all student interactions
Qualifications:
- Active Substitute Paraprofessional certification from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE)
- Experience working in schools, particularly with students with behavioral needs and special education
- Comfortable managing toileting and behavioral support as part of student care
- Willingness to complete district-specific fingerprinting and background checks
- Flexibility to work varied school schedules, including middle, high, and elementary hours
Schedule:
- Guaranteed 30 hours weekly, typically spread over 4 or more days
- Hours vary by school level: Elementary (8:30 AM4:00 PM or 9:00 AM4:30 PM), Middle (7:00 AM2:30 PM), High (7:30 AM3:00 PM)
