Job Description
Seeking two Instructional Assistants (IAs) for a specialized alternative education elementary program aimed at supporting student learning and development. This role offers an opportunity to work closely with students in a focused setting, providing essential assistance to teachers and contributing to the academic success of the program.
Location: Positions are based in the Lees Summit, MO area with assignment at Norfleet Elementary School, supporting the Connections Academy alternative education program.
Duration: These are contract positions running from April 6 to May 22.
Schedule:
- Monday through Thursday: 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
- Friday: 7:45 AM to 4:00 PM
Responsibilities:
- Assist classroom teachers in delivering instruction tailored to students learning needs within the alternative education setting
- Support students academic, behavioral, and social development as part of the Connections Academy program
- Help create an engaging and supportive learning environment that promotes student success
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and staff
- Assist with classroom management and maintain a safe and positive atmosphere
- Participate in team meetings and collaborate on strategies to meet the diverse needs of students
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Paraprofessional or Instructional Assistant in a school setting preferred
- Understanding of alternative education programs and student needs strongly desired
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work patiently and effectively with students requiring additional support
- Dependability and professionalism in handling classroom responsibilities
