Job Description
An immediate opening is available for two full-time paraprofessionals to support K-12 students in a public school setting located in Lees Summit, MO. This contract role runs through the current school year, starting as soon as possible and ending May 28th. Candidates should have experience working with student behaviors and must be comfortable assisting with toileting needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one support to students at Oakwood Manor Elementary and Gracemor Elementary.
- Assist students with behavioral challenges in a compassionate and patient manner.
- Support daily classroom activities and individualized education plans.
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to promote a positive learning environment.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Previous paraprofessional experience preferred, especially working within special education or behavioral support roles.
- Must be comfortable working directly with students exhibiting challenging behavior.
- Active DESE certification or paraprofessional certification is required.
- Ability to complete background checks and drug screening promptly.
- Willingness and ability to complete district-required fingerprinting within the first few days of hire.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a school team.
Schedule and Location:
- Full-time position, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
- Location: Lees Summit, Missouri.
- Position is 1:1 support within elementary school settings.
Interview Process: Candidates will first complete a brief 5-10 minute phone prescreen. Qualified candidates then advance to a 15-minute Zoom interview with the districts Special Education director. Interview times are scheduled in Central Time on specific dates, including morning and afternoon options.
