Job Description

Supporting students with special needs requires dedication, skill, and a passion for education. This role involves serving as a paraprofessional in an on-site support capacity across several elementary schools within the Burnsville area, providing vital support within special education programs.

Locations: Burnsville, MN (specifically at William Byrne Elementary, Gideon Pond Elementary, and Sky Oaks Elementary)

Duration: Immediate start through June 4, 2026
Hours: 35 hours per week
Positions Available: 5 (two at William Byrne Elementary Focus Program, two at Gideon Pond, and one at Sky Oaks Elementary)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) to support student learning and development
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with diverse learning needs
  • Collaborate with teachers and support staff to adapt instructional materials and strategies
  • Monitor student progress and behavior, reporting observations to the education team
  • Support life skills development and social interaction within the classroom environment

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Completion of at least two years of college credits OR an associate degree or higher, OR a passing score on an approved formal academic assessment (such as ParaPro, ParaPathways, or The Master Teacher)
  • Ability to meet competencies outlined in the states approved competency grid for paraprofessionals
  • PCA certification or willingness to obtain it (free certification taking less than one hour)
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with children with special needs and willingness to work on-site (no remote options)
  • Submission of relevant documentation including academic transcripts, certification proof, resume, and completed supervisor reference forms to participate in the interview process
