Job Description

Step into a meaningful role supporting students with orthopedic impairments as an Orthopedic Impairment Assistant in a dynamic educational environment. This full-time, onsite contract position runs from August 2025 through early June 2026, offering the chance to positively impact students daily experiences.

This position centers on partnering with an OI Specialist to ensure students' wellbeing and access to learning. You'll monitor and assist students using walkers, wheelchairs, and other assistive devices, as well as support safe training in their use. Serving in an itinerant capacity within the school system, youll travel between sites as assigned, making adaptability and organizational skills highly valued for this role.

What were seeking:

  • CPI Certification (required)
  • Experience or training in assistive technology and mobility devices (required)
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English (required)
  • Prior experience in California schools (preferred)
  • CNA/medical training (preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to provide careful, compassionate assistance to students with physical challenges
  • Exceptional administrative and organizational skills, with attention to detail
  • Commitment to teamwork, communication, and student-centered service

Key responsibilities:

  • Support OI Specialist in monitoring and assisting with mobility devices and adaptive equipment
  • Observe and reinforce safe, effective use of walkers, wheelchairs, and other support technology
  • Document progress and follow safety protocols in various educational settings
  • Communicate effectively with staff, students, and families to ensure seamless support
  • Flexibly travel between locations as needed for student care and assistance
